Poem honors Son Rodgers

The following is a poem written by Sally White in April, 1995, in memory of Son Rodgers.

Son

Into a loving family
There was born an only son;
Mother, father, and sisters
Enjoyed his knack for fun.

He kept the household chuckling
With his many boyish pranks;
When they all had thoughts of him,
Their hearts overflowed with thanks.

Uncles, aunts, cousins gathered
For a time of family fun;
These meetings were kept lively
By all his kinfolks and Son.

As years swiftly came and went,
He grew to become a man;
But that fun-loving spirit
Was always near at hand.

He chose a beautiful bride,
They began to make a home;
He was a true family man,
With a proud heart for his own.

With their children's arrival,
He took pride in every one;
There was a baby daughter,
And two especially fine sons.

Home was the place he headed,
When the days work was complete;
There was a smile and kind word,
For all he chanced to meet.

He is now home in heaven,
He's bowed down before our Lord;
He has seen heaven's beauty,
He's met loved ones gone before.

When our life here is over,
If life's battles we have won;
We'll be gathered by Jesus,
And reunited with Son.
