FORREST - Velma R. Snow, 81, of Forrest and formerly of Chatsworth and Fairbury, died at 12:55 p.m. yesterday (Dec. 22, 1991) at Saint James Hospital, Pontiac. She had been ill.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Chatsworth Cemetery, Army Assistant Chaplain Michael Forsyth, her grandson-in-law, officiating.
There will be a private family visitation today at Culkin-Diggle Funeral Home, Forrest.
She was born June 11, 1910, in Edwards County, the daughter of Frank and Addie Dawson Davisson. She married Harley L. Snow Jan. 19, 1931, in Pontiac. He died Sept. 28, 1970.
Surviving are four sons, Dale, Cullom; Donald, Ocala, Fla.; and Thomas, and Ronald, both of Denver, Colo.; three daughters, Doris Friedman, Bloomington; Iva Mae Wilfong, Conway, Mo.; and Velda Mydler, Forrest; two sisters, Bernice Gaede, Minonk, and Helen Oyer, Forrest; 18 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
One grandson and one daughter preceded her in death.
She was a member of Forrest United Methodist Church, Republican Club, Chatsworth Homemakers Extension Unit and the Fairbury Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Snow had worked as a nurse's aide for the Helen Lewis Smith Pavilion, Fairbury, and the former Greenbriar Lodge Nursing Home, Piper City. She was a member of Forrest Senior Citizens Club and the Chatsworth American Legion Auxiliary for 30 years.
In lieu of flowres, memorials may be made to the Saint James Hospital Hospice Unit at Pontiac.
