World War II Veteran & Second Lieutenant Ellis Trevilion, Jr., U.S. Army, 22, gave his life while serving with Company G, 2nd Battalion, 255th Infantry Regiment, 63rd Infantry Division (ID) near Achen, Germany.
The Marks, MS native was a student & brother of the Mississippi Alpha chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp) Fraternity at University of Mississippi when he registered for the WWII draft in JUN 1942. Army records show Brother Trevilion joined the service in SEP that year, and this likely coincides with when he became a member of Hood's Brigade (a precursor to ROTC) at the university.
Based on research to-date by the SigEp Patriots Project, Ellis was the 77th SigEp Patriot killed in action during WWII.

CITATION:
"The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) Ellis A. Trevilion (ASN: 0-558848), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company G, 2d Battalion, 255th Infantry Regiment, 63d Infantry Division, in action on 3 January 1945, in the vicinity of Achen, France. The enemy was blocking part of the town, using two machine guns and rifles. Lieutenant Trevilion took one squad with him on a reconnaissance mission but found they could not move from cover because of the intense enemy fire directed at them.
