Actor. He was a child actor who appeared in films in the 1930s. Born John Daly "Jackie" Kelk, he appeared on the American stage, radio, film, and television as well as being a stand-up comedian. Between 1930 and 1931, he had the child role of "Georgie Bassett" in seven short comedies. His last child role was in 1934 before going to radio. As an adult, he appeared on the radio program "The Aldrich Family," playing best friend "Homer Brown." Starting in 1950 in the same role, he appeared in eleven episodes of the television series "The Aldrich Family." He had several one-time guest-role appearances on various television shows. In 1958 he played the role of "Old Man Merkel" on "Leave It to Beaver in Season 1, Episode 17, which was called "The Paper Route." As a character actor, he appeared in three episodes from 1958 to 1959 on "The Donna Reed Show" and ended his career.
