*Alvin did have run ins with the law on and off on several different occasions through out the years, but none the less he did not deserve to die like this.

His death may be linked to alleged Police Brutality. The Salt Lake City branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is calling for a "full investigation" into the death of Alvin who is Samoan. Alvin died after four Salt Lake City police officers wrestled him to the ground, hit him with clubs, pepper sprayed him, and shocked him with a Taser gun several times. The case has also sought attention by the FBI and the American Civil Liberties Union.

His wife said that Itula repeatedly told the officers he couldn't breathe. One officer responded, "Well if you're talking, you can breathe." Soon after, Itula stopped struggling an officer kneeled down to check his pulse and noticed that it was faint. The officers started CPR and called paramedics, who used a defibrillator on Itula before taking him to the hospital.

The four officers involved in the incident are on paid administrative leave while the case is investigated by the police department's internal affairs and homicide units, and the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office.
