ACCARDO, PHILIP A.

Retired and a volunteer worker with Council on Aging for more than 20 years and a resident and native of Baton Rouge, he died Monday. Feb. 3, 1997, at his residence. He was 78. He was a paratrooper and veteran of World War II. Visiting was held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home 825 Government St., 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Religious services at St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church at 9 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Tim Kerner. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. Survived by former wife, of Baton Rouge; a son and daughter-in-law, Baton Rouge; two brothers, Joseph and Anthony Accardo, both of Baton Rouge; two grandchildren, from Baton Rouge, and Nebraska; and a great-grandchild. Preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Evelyn Accardo; parents, Paul and Katie Accardo; a sister, Josephine Delgado; and a brother, Samuel Accardo. He was a member of St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church and Holy Name Society and was active for 25 years with a square dance group.
