He died of multiple fragmenatation wounds to both arms,left side of abdomen,left knee and thigh,from incoming 82MM fire,9 kilometers northwest of Cam Lo and 6 kilometers southwest of Con Thien(Hill 158),
during Operation Virginia Ridge.
