Marine Sgt. Clinton Ahlquist was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. Ahlquist was killed after tripping an IED while guarding a Medivac helicopter. Since the age of 4, Clint wanted to be in the military. At Halloween he would always dress up as GI Joe. He attended Scottsdale's Saguaro High School until his sophomore year when he transferred to Creede High School. While in school, he was in journalism all three years. He was editor of the yearbook and school paper his senior year and was class vice president his junior and senior year. Clint was active in Future Business Leaders of America, was prom king his junior year and was on the Arby's All Star Basketball team his senior year. Shortly after graduating on June 23, 2003, he enlisted in the Marines because he said they are the best of the best. He ranked high in his class at boot camp at Camp Pendleton even though he completed his final humps with a broken foot. Clint was among seven or eight Marines selected from 600 during his first tour of duty to train with the Army Special Forces and received a commendation from the Army for his outstanding work. He did two tours of duty in Iraq and one in Okinawa even re-enlisting when he was in Iraq the last time. At the time of his death, he was in charge of a Marine infantry squad that would go out on night raids. Clint was proud to be a Marine, to fight for his country and to protect freedom and us. The following is what Clint wrote about himself on his web page:
