Mildred "Millie" B. Bindley, 99, Montezuma, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at Bethel Home Inc. of Montezuma, where she had been a resident.
She was born Nov. 15, 1909, in McPherson County, near Canton, to John Franklin and Stella Mae Brucker Oldfield. She graduated from Canton High School in 1928. She moved with her parents to Montezuma in 1929.
She married Winfred "Win" Earl Bindley Jr. on Nov. 21, 1938, at Glenwood Springs, Colo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 2004. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Deanne Bindley; and two sisters, Marcelyn Oldfield and Loraine Johnson.
Survivors include two nephews, Virgil Shrauner, of Sedgwick, and Garry Shrauner, of Phoenix; and other relatives and friends.
She was an employee of Montezuma State Bank for 48 years and enjoyed visiting with people. Her hobbies were bowling and attending horse races. She was a member of the Christian Church, in Canton, and the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the American Legion Auxiliary of Montezuma.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Montezuma, with the Rev. Jerry Odle presiding. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Montezuma.
Visitation is 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Tuesday at the funeral home.
