Widow of Thomas Adams who died in 1776 and was buried at Conewago Chapel just over the Pennsylvania line from Taneytown. Magdalene was interred next to her son Thomas who died the same year as she, 1826. Her age is very likely exaggerated, given that her husband's stated birth date on his stone would have made him fourteen years younger than Magdalene. In addition, Magdalene would have been 54 years old at the birth of her last son, Richard, in September of 1776. Nevertheless, her survivors described her on the headstone as one "who died at the age of 104 loaded with years and virtuous deeds."

While her husband is NOT recognized as serving in the Revolutionary War, Magdalena Adams is recognized as a Patriot by the DAR for paying the supply tax for years 1779-1783:

Additionally, per the DAR, there is no document that exists to date that identifies her maiden name. Any reference to Wingertman (or any variation of the name) will not be accepted.
