Minnie Boserman

Minnie Jane Boserman, 94, a resident of Norton, passed away Thursday evening, March 5, 2009, at her home.

She was born Nov. 18, 1914, at Mabie, a daughter of the late Delbert C. Rowan the late Olie Paugh Rowan.

On Aug. 5, 1933, at Harding, she was married to William Roy Boserman, who preceded her in death June 7, 1984.

Surviving are two sons, Clarence Boserman and Edward Boserman of Mabie; and three daughters, Rose Ann Meyer of Carson City, Nev., Evelyn Cross of Canton, Ohio, and Madeline "Faye" Smith of Freeport, Fla. Two brothers, Roy Rowan of Middle River, Md., and Delbert Rowan Jr. of Jeffersontown, Ky.; three sisters, Edith Wagner of Virginia Beach, Va., Ila Nethken of Mabie and Evaleen "Gay" Sweitzer of Hedgesville; and 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Also preceding her in death was one brother, William D. Rowan.

Mrs. Boserman attended the schools of Randolph County, received a bachelor of arts degree in education from Davis & Elkins College and received master's degrees in special education and elementary education from West Virginia University. She was a teacher and principal in the Randolph County Schools for many years prior to her retirement. Mrs. Boserman was a member of the Rowan Memorial United Methodist Church for more than 80 years. She was a member of John Hart Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star, Randolph County Schools Retired Employees Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5583 Ladies Auxiliary, H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Davis & Elkins College Alumni Association and West Virginia University Alumni Association.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 9, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Stella Faye Moyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Rowan Memorial Cemetery near Mabie. Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Minnie Jane Boserman.
