Lee Eldridge Abernathy was born on November 5, 1924 to Lambert and Lois (Roland) Abernathy in Millersview, Texas. He was married to Trudy Clifton on December 1, 1943 in San Angelo. He lived most of his life in Coleman County moving from Concho County following his service in the United States Army. Until 1946, he served in the 11th Airborne Division of the U. S. Army where he qualified as a gliderist. He was involved in many jobs throughout his life, but primarily worked as a farmer and rancher in the area. He was an active member of the Rockwood Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Trudy Abernathy of Rockwood; son, Ricky Abernathy of Rockwood; daughter, Linda Rutherford and husband Larry of Rockwood; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
