Earl was born September 30, 1925 in Evansville, the son of Earl and Essie (Carnahan) Cox. He was a member and a deacon at Evansville General Baptist Church and a former member of Howell United Methodist Church, where he attended their yearly Lenten Breakfast. Earl was a veteran and proudly served his country during WWII with the 36th Army Infantry Division and was a lifetime member of VFW Post #1114. After being discharged in 1946 Earl joined the Evansville Fire Department, retiring in 1968, after 20 years of service. Earl was the Vanderburgh County Chief Deputy Coroner for 16 years and also co-founded Comaier Services, Inc., along with John Maier in 1964. He was a member of numerous organizations including Reed Masonic Lodge #316, Scottish Rite, a 50 year member of Eugene Pate American Legion Post #265, past commander of American Legion Posts #40 and #8 and a Kentucky Colonel for over 40 years He is survived by his wife, Margie (Baughn) Cox of Evansville, daughter, Cheryl Kinney (Craig) of Dallas, TX, step daughter, Lee Ann Ritzman (Michael) of Dallas, TX, sons, Lenny Cox of New York, NY and Kenny "K.C." Cox of Dallas, TX, step son, Tony Alan Market (Anna) of Marengo, IL, sister, Esther Burkhardt (Al) of Texas, brothers, Lester Cox (Velma) of Newburgh and Herb Cox (Joyce) of Evansville, grandchildren, Jane, Shirley and Wallis Kinney, 9 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Shirley Jean Cox in 2007, sister, Vanna Zimmerman and brother, Ira Cox.
