Rita was born May 28. 1926 at Lake City Iowa. She was the Daughter of Glenn and Anna (Morlan) Gorton. The Gorton family moved to Lohrville Iowa in her childhood and she graduated from Lohrville High School in 1944. She later met and married Harry Baty August 15, 1948. Mrs Baty worked at Stewart Memorial Hospital for many years and later she work at Bowie Manufacturing both place were in Lake City, Iowa. She was a member of Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake City. Funeral Services for Rita Baty were Tuesday December 22, 1998 at Lampe Funeral Home Lake City, Iowa. Mrs. Baty was 72 she died on a Friday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. The Rev John Keener officiated the service. Survivors include her husband Harry; two daughters Janice Dodson and Joy Lewis; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters Dorothy Clevenger of Polo Mo. and Marjorie Condon of Garland, TX. Mrs Baty is preceded in death by her parents; a son Milo in infancy; a granddaughter Melissa and her two brothers Don and Richard Gorton
