Grave has a Harmer Terracotta.Jonathan Harmer was the son of a stonemason, who used his skills as a potter to enhance his fathers’ gravestones. He created a method of attaching terracotta plaques to gravestones and tombs. The method he created involved cutting the outline of the terracotta into the stone and creating a cavity. Then a terracotta plaque of the same or slightly thicker depth was placed into the cavity and fixed with mortar. He took over the family firm in 1799, and added these unusual terracotta plaques to a large number of gravestones in East Sussex and Kent. There are various designs including cherubs, baskets of fruit and vases.
