Obituary of Jessie Eli Abernathy

Jessie Eli Abernathy, Age 87 of Greenhill, AL passed away Monday, March 29, 2010 of an extended illness at his residence. He was a native of Lauderdale County Alabama, member of St. Joseph Church of Christ, and a retired Labor Foreman for TVA. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Abernathy also enjoyed farming.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ruby Canerday Abernathy; his parents Willie and Elizabeth (Holden) Abernathy; Daughter-in-law Faye (Dean) Abernathy; his brothers Donnie Abernathy, Willie Earl Abernathy, and Lois Abernathy; and his sisters Mary Ruth Myrick, Helen Liles, Louise Myhan and Lou Jean Chaney.

Survivors are:
Sons: Wayne Abernathy, Danny and wife Paulette Abernathy, Ricky and wife Tammy Abernathy, and Roger and wife Donna Abernathy
Daughter: Joan and husband John Dean
Brothers: R.H. Abernathy, Tommy Lee Abernathy, and Gene Ed Abernathy
Sisters: Virginia Frazier and Betty Sue Marks
12 Grandchildren and 13 Great- Grandchildren

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Greenhill Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Bro. Tim Grigsby and Bro. Dennis Hudgins. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Emmaline Stutts Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 30, 2010 from 5 to 9 PM at Greenhill Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are: Wade Abernathy, Carroll Dean, Wendell Dean, Jeremy Abernathy, Jaran Abernathy, Blake Abernathy, and Christopher Key. Honorary Pallbearers are: Tyler Pettus, Dusty Brown, Sawyer Stamps, Raleigh Stamps, Mason Abernathy and Kendell Dean
