Cheryl Ballweg, 71, of Langdon, ND passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at her home in Langdon.

Cheryl was born December 5, 1944 in Langdon to Tony and Ella (nee Storie) Mukomela. She attended school in Langdon and graduated from Langdon High School. She went on to Mayville State University where she earned her BS degree in elementary education. She taught at Crookston, MN before marrying Darrell Ballweg in August of 1967. Cheryl and Darrell bought a farm near Nekoma and lived there until moving into Langdon in the 1970s.

Cheryl loved to cook. She also enjoyed visiting with friends and family especially spending time with her grandkids. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Langdon and helped with serving lunch at St. Edward’s in Nekoma whenever she was needed.

Surviving Cheryl is her son, Darren (Mary) of Nekoma; granddaughter Lauren Ballweg; step-grandchildren: Patricia, Kevin, and Timothy; six step-great-grandchildren; siblings: Shirley Lazarz, Kenneth (Gwen) Mukomela, Robert (Kay) Mukomela, and Lois (Eldon) Nolte; honorary grandchildren: Alex, Riley and Kendra Stremick; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Darrell; and siblings: Arthur (Sheila) Mukomela, Marjorie (Robert) Logan, and William Mukomela; and brother-in-law Steve Lazarz.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND. Visitation will take place from 5-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 prayer service on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon, ND. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday. Interment- Calvary Cemetery, Langdon, ND.

4th generation Cavalier Co. native. Her maternal great-grandfather, David Storie, was an early Cavalier Co. pioneer.
