Mrs. Amos, 81, of Waxhaw, NC passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at her home surrounded by much love.
She was born on February 25, 1929 in Martinsville, VA. Her father, Robert P. Nelson, and her mother, Nora Choate Nelson, preceded her in death. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Weddington, NC. She retired from AT&T after 20 years in Asheville, NC and moved to Waxhaw, NC in 2006. She was a member of the Pioneers Organization.
Survivors include her loving husband, James Franklin Amos; children, Timothy Franklin Amos and wife, Marcia, of Asheville, NC, Cynthia Amos Fortune and husband, Lee, of Boiling Springs, NC, and Lynn Keith Amos and wife, Lynn, of Marvin, NC; grandchildren, Jared Amos and wife, Snow, of Morganton, NC, Britt Amos of Asheville, NC, Scott Batson and wife, Suzanne, of Raleigh, NC, Casey Wilson of Boiling Springs, NC, Tyler and Ryan Amos of Marvin, NC, Alina, Troy Fortune and Maya Fortune of Boiling Springs, NC; and her great grandchild, Taden Wilson of Boiling Springs, NC. Also surviving are sisters Audrey Vaughn and Faith Pierson, and brothers Wayne Nelson, Hadden Nelson and Steve Nelson along with a number of nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am Monday, December 27, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Weddington, 348 Providence Road S., Waxhaw, NC 28173 under the direction of McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel. The family will receive friends at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 3:00 pm at Lewis Memorial Park, 415 Beaverdam Rd., Asheville, NC 28804.
