Joseph F. "Babo" Babich, age 91 of Hobart, formerly of Glen Park passed away on Friday, August 5, 2011. He is survived by his three children: Margaret (Thomas) Thornton of Hot Springs, AR, Joseph R. (late Cindy) Babich of Clearwater, FL, Evette (Paul Thornton) Babich of Mission, TX; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Rosemary (Robert) Gard of Crown Point. Preceded in death by wife, Katherine; daughter, Marianne Vale; brother, Thomas Babich.

A retired milkman from Bowman Dairy and Dixie Dairy, former employee of Budd Company, and worked at Tri-City Bowling and Merri-Bowl. A member of St. Joseph the Worker Church and Holy Name Society, C.C.U., C.F.U. Lodge #170, Knights of Columbus Msgr. Ryder Council 4047, American Legion Post # 207. Joseph was a Navy Veteran of World War II and also a member of the Northwest Bowling Hall of Fame.

Family and friends may call Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (6360 Broadway, Merrillville, IN) on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with an American Legion service at 4:30 PM and a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 PM

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 9:30 AM at the Pruzin Brothers Chapel and 10:00 AM at St. Joseph the Worker (330 East 45th Ave, Gary, IN) with Rev.
