Funeral services for Christine" Tina" Angel will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at The Church of Living God, 901 Alabama St., Helena-West Helena. Rev. Thomas Gipson will officiate. Burial will be in New Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11 at Allen Temple AME Church.
Christine "Tina" Angel was born in Brownsville, Tenn. to the late Herman Thomas Sr. and Lula Mae Williams. Her father affectionately nicknamed her Tina. Tina moved to Helena-West Helena where she was raised and educated. Tina had a passion for educating children and did so for 24 years as a teacher's aide in the Helena-West Helena School District. She was a very generous and kindhearted woman. She was always willing to help others in anyway she could assist. Tina was a gracious host to all who came into her home. She loved to cook for her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of Allen Temple A.M.E. Church until her health failed. Tina was truly one of a kind and her family and friends will miss her. Her husband, Clifton Angel Jr., her father, Herman Thomas Sr., her stepfather, Nathaniel Bailey Sr. and grandmother, Janie Williams, precedes Tina in death. She leaves to cherish her memory, her four children, Courtney (Anterica) Baylark, of Helena-West Helena, Victoria (LeRoy) Parker, of Helena-West Helena, John (Tamara) Angel, of Chicago and Brandon Angel of Helena-West Helena; step children, Don (Etusko) Angel of Mont Clair, Calif., Calvin Angel of Monterey, Calif., and Donna Brown of West Memphis; her mother, Lula Mae Bailey-Brown, of Helena-West Helena; sisters, Lavon Williams of Saginaw, Mich., Marilyn (Roosevelt) Smith of Dearland, Texas, Amanda Williams of Helena-West Helena, Beverly Thomas of Jackson, Tenn., Michelle (Frenchie) Hall of Jackson, Sherry Thomas, of Brownsville, Tenn., Carmen Thomas, of Chicago, Loretta Thomas of Saginaw, Mich., Debra (Charles) Owens, of Bells, Tenn.; brothers, Nathaniel (Melissa) Bailey, of Charlotte, N.C., Ron Bailey of Little Rock, Herman (LaShawn) Thomas Jr., of Arlington, Texas, James (Lareacia) Thomas, of Jackson, Kevin(Cynthia)Thomas, of Jackson, Hebert Thomas, of Dallas, Jimmy Thomas and Dewayne Thomas of Saginaw; her precious grandchildren, Simone, Londyn, Xayana, Antion, Nazir, Kailyn, Brandi, Jarvarious, Skylar and Jaylin; godchildren, Alan and Alicia Simpson; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Hoffman and Hazel Lee, of Chicago; three brothers-in-law, Charles (Bertha) Angel, of Winsor, N.C., Paul Angel of Chicago and William (Sarah) Angel, of Helena-West Helena; her best friend for many years, Elaine (James) Golden; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
