Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, and son of Timothy Warren Anglin, one-time speaker of the House of Commons, and Ellen McTavish Anglin, he was educated at Ottawa College, St. Mary's University in Montreal, the University of Ottawa and Osgoode Hall where he was a gold medalist. He was called to the bar in 1890 and created King's Counsel in 1908. He worked most of his life with the law firm of Blake, Lash, Cassels and Holman, and was a bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada from 1926 to 1936. He is brother of Frank A. Anglin, noted chief justice of Canada and Margaret Anglin, the noted actress.
