Frederick E. Atkinson, 89, of Paris died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at TriStar Centennial Hospital in Nashville.

A celebration of life and homecoming services are scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday at Progressive Baptist Church with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Trinity Funeral Home and 11 a.m.-1 p.m Saturday at the church.

He was born Feb. 19, 1927, in Paris to the late Joseph and Ruhama Dent Atkison.

Atkinson was a graduate of Central High School and a U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II on the U.S.S. Wheatland, Lakewood Victory, Racoon, PCE and AR

He worked for the U.S. Postal service in Chicago for several years and earned a number of janitorial service certifications.

He later worked for the Henry County School System as a bus driver and for the Henry County Court Systems and other positions. He retired from the Paris Board of Public Utilities in 1994.
