Fred Gaylon Allen, 66, of Henry died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at Henry County Medical Center.

His wife Virginia Wilson Allen survives. They were married on Sept. 9, 1961.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Baptist Church near Henry, where he was a member and deacon.

Douglas Nash, Toney Wiggins and Paul Merwin will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Chosen as pallbearers are his grandchildren: Scott and Matthew McSwain, Jennea and Chris Allen, Dylan Burnette and Megan Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren: Katelyn, Derek and Adam Allen, Nathan and Colin Gaskins, Madison Williams and Ashley King.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Ridgeway Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Born June 10, 1941, in Trezevant, he was a son of the late Homer and Tennessee Josephine Ervin Allen.

Allen retired after 31 years at Midland Brake. He had presently been employed as a welder for Replogle Enterprises in Henry. He formerly served in the National Guard.

He also leaves two daughters: Dottie (Mark) McSwain of Jackson and Dana (Mike) Burnette of Paris; two sons: Lonnie (Rhonda) Allen of Henry and Gary (Tracy) Allen of Paris;

Four sisters: Mary Ann (Vernon) Melton of Henry, Lydone Fuller of Taylor, Mich., Ester Glover of Arlington, Texas and Judy Rodorigo of Cullman, Ala.; one brother: Mack (Cookie) Allen of Henry; three sisters-in-law: Jennie and Allene Allen, both of Henry and Sue Allen of McKenzie; and seven other grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by three sisters: Lynora Muzzall, Imogene Allen and Billie June Allen; and six brothers: Henry Ford, Paul, Virgil, Billy, Lloyd and Lubie Allen.
