He graduated from Chatham Central High School in 1970. He also received an Associate Degree in Nursing from from Sandhills Community College. After graduation, James joined the United States Army. He loved to travel, and during his tour of duty, he was posted in Germany, Korea, Arizona, and Colorado. He retired after 14 years of service.
James embraced life with a smile and enjoyed sharing his cooking skills and gradening with his family and friends. In addition, he was was active as an usher in church.
He is survived by one son, two grandchildren, two sisters, four nephews, three nieces, three aunts, three uncles, two great-aunts, and many other relatives and friends.
