Delancey C. Allen made her transition on Feb. 9, 2013. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 152 Osborne Terrace, Newark, N.J. 07112. Interment is at Evergreen Cemetery, Hillside, N.J. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Arrangements are by Whigham Funeral Home. Delancey was a retired security guard for the Newark Board of Education. She was the devoted wife of the late Arthur Allen; beloved mother of Kevin Allen, Julia Williams (Earl), Delancey Smith, and the late Yolanda Allen; adored sister of the late Maxine Sellers; cherished stepsister of Vaughn Hicks; and sister-in-law of Eleanor Crutchfield; cherished grandmother of eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends; beloved daughter of Julia and the late Leo North.
