Catherine Annette Dearing Townsend lived from April 12, 1867 to April 7, 1960. She was my Great Grandmother and I never knew her, as she passed away one year before I was born. Grandma Townsend was married to W.S. Townsend Jr. They lived at Pine Acres in Blairstown, LA in the old Townsend home built sometimes in the 1880s. Grandma Townend was an excellent cook. Her two best dishes were chicken pie and a big white cake. Grandma Townsend lived in the old house until the early 1950s. After that, she lived with her son Allen P. Townsend at his residence adjoining The Pine Acres Nursing Home. Grandma Townsend's last days were spent reading the Bible, quilting, and listening to the radio.
