Laura Rammelkamp was a wonderful kind hearted woman.She was the Mother of nine childern,and wife of William Adam Rammelkamp.She was born on "The Erie Canal" as were her brothers and sisters.As a young child she lost two brothers on the canal,one slipping thru her hands as she could not pull him back on board the boat.As a young man,I would talk to her about those days she spent on the boat that her Father Captained,She amazed me with her recall of events that happened so long ago,it was so vivid,it seemed like it happened only days ago.Sadly,Laura passed away in 1985 after compications due to stomach surgery.At her Funeral her whole family was present,including 29 Grandchildern,and a number of Great Grandchildern.She is Greatly missed by all.
