Pianist. At five years old he began learning classical piano, and he gave his first public performance when eight years old. Having studied at the High School of Music and Art he played with Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Dinah Washington and others. In 1961 he moved to Paris and in 1964 to Copenhagen where he lived until his death in 1993. His trio, which included drummer Ed Thigpen, drew packed houses everywhere in Europe and in Japan.
