Married three times. 1st wife was Genevieve (Jean) Margaret Spencer, 2nd wife was Mae Ray, 3rd wife was Marjorie (Marge) Levy.

Had five children. Frank Carl, Dolores Jean, Donald Westley, Donna Marie, and Linda Diane.

Born in Los Angeles in 1902. From the age of 18, he worked as a truck driver for the city of Los Angeles. In 1939 he went to San Francisco for two years, where he worked for The Bethlehem Steel Company and also served in the California National Guard. In 1941 with two of his children, Frank and Donna, he went first to Anchorage and then Homer, Alaska to work as a carpenter. In 1943 he returned to San Francisco and worked in the ship yards. In 1944 he returned to Anchorage, Alaska for a year to work as a carpenter again. By the late 1940's he returned to Los Angeles where he then worked as a Santa Monica City bus driver. In 1951, he went to Whittier, Alaska to work as a carpenter. He came back to California the same year and worked at Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica and Long Beach until his death.
