Daniel S. "Dyke" Anderson Sr., 93, of Palmyra, Mo., formerly of Orion, died Thursday, May 11, 2006, at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 15, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, 1301 4th St., Orion. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to Palmyra United Methodist Church (P.O. Box 646 Palmyra, MO 63461) or the American Diabetes Association (P.O. Box 1132 Fairfax, VA 22038).

Daniel was born Dec. 10, 1912, in Colona Township, Ill., to Oscar M. and Bertha Cushman Anderson. He married Margaret E. Oltman on June 17, 1931, in Springfield, Ill. She preceded him in death on April 16, 1999.

Dyke was a retired international officer with the International Brotherhood of Firemen and Oilers, AFL-CIO. He retired on Sept. 30, 1976, after 32 years. At the time of his retirement he held the office of international vice president. He also served as the Labor Member of the 2nd Division of the National Railroad Adjustment Board, Chicago.

Dyke was a member of the Palmyra United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors (and spouses) are his sons, Robert E. (Barbara) Anderson, Silvis, and Daniel S. (Carolyn) Anderson Jr., Centreville, Va.; special friend, Bertha Roland, Palmyra; five grandchildren, Robbie (Joyce) Anderson, East Moline, Debbie (Steve) Erickson, Silvis, Brian (Nancy) Anderson, Vinton, Va., Christine (Mike) Oulette, New Castle, Va., Brent (Layla) Anderson, Goodview, Va.; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces, Pam (Louis) Smith, Palmyra, Donna (Buzz) Sidney, Blue Grass; and nephews, Charles (Paulette) Oltman, East Moline, and Mike (Karen) Oltman, East Moline. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Andrew Anderson; a brother, Andrew Anderson; and a baby sister
