Dale B. Ahlgren, 83, of East Moline, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
In accordance with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Aug. 7, at 5 p.m. at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorial visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home on Monday. Inurnment will take place at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, at a later date. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice, Silvis.
Dale was born on April 14, 1923, in Moline, the son of Oscar E. and Josephine Rezab Ahlgren. He married Martha Mallory on Feb. 2, 1946, in Rock Island.
Dale was a letter carrier at the Rock Island Post Office, retiring in 1978, after 31 years. He was a former member of the Rock Island Moose and bowled on their league. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, reading and his numerous automobiles. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all.
Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Martha, East Moline; son, Robert Ahlgren, Iowa City; daughters, Janine Ahlgren, Moline, Karen Ahlgren, East Moline, and Sharon (Eric) Johnson, Woodhull; daughter-in-law, Bobbie Ahlgren, Rogers, Ark.; brother, Donald (Erma) Ahlgren, East Moline; grandchildren, Jeremy Jones, Little York, Ill., Sammy and Alex Johnson and Kelly Proper, all of Woodhull, David "D.J." Ahlgren, and stepgrandchild, Kristopher Wimpey, both of Rogers, Ark.
