Actress. A gorgeous brunette, she was a type-cast villainess of the Mexican small screen for 20 years. Raised in her country's capital city, she took to show business early, studied at the National School of Dance, and made her 1992 television debut as Rosario in "Maria Mercedes." Over the next two decades she was a regular presence on such shows as "Prisionera de amor," "La Mentira," "Camaleones," and "Un gancho al Corazon," though probably her best known role was that of Rita in 1999's "Alma Rebeldo" ("Rebellious Souls"). Karla received a Best Young Actress nomination in 1995 and garnered a 2007 Best Supporting Actress Award for her turn as Florencia in "Heridas de Amor" ("Wounds of Love"). Occasionally seen on the Mexico City stage, she was in one movie, starring as Rubi in the 2007 drama "La santa muerte." Karla appeared in numerous magazine photo shoots over the years, earned her final credits on the 2012-2013 series "Que Bonito Amor," and died of respiratory failure occurring as a consequence of longstanding alcoholism and eating disorders.
