Actress. Out of a 30 year career she is remembered as Loretta Salino, the hit-lady of 1973's comedy classic "The Sting". Raised in Ohio she had early theatrical ambitions and for many years was a company member at the Goodman Theater of Chicago; after relocating to New York Dimitra first attracted major notice in the 1969 Broadway production of "Indians" in which she was an American Indian with an Italian accent. She made her silver screen bow in 1971's "The Ski Bum" and in 1973 landed the role of Loretta in Robert Redford's well-remembered "The Sting". Over the years she was seen a number of times on the big screen, her appearances including the 1980 Olivia Newton-John fantasy "Xanadu" and Clint Eastwood's 1982 action thriller "Firefox". Dimitra received praise for a Broadway revival of George Bernard Shaw's "Arms and the Man" and was to amass a number of television credits including "Dallas", "Rich Man, Poor Man", "Quincy, M.E.", and "General Hospital". In the mid 1990s she voiced Anastasia Hardy for "Spider Man: The Animated Series" and in 2000 she earned her final screen credit as Dahnya in the crime drama "Bless the Child". Dimitra lived out her days in Southern California and died of a stroke. A number of her films, among them "The Sting", are available on DVD. She was sometimes credited as "Dimitra Arlys".
