Member of 'The Grey Ranks' underground Polish Scouting Organisation during german occupation of Poland. They organised a lot of the so-called 'the little sabotage'. What consolidated them was the idea of solidarity which made it possible to fight together against the Nazi occupant. Jan had been arrested by the Gestapo during the night of the 22nd and 23rd March 1943.On the 26th March 1943, in the area of Arsenal in Warsaw his friends Zoska, Alek and their colleagues commanded by Stanislaw Broniewski ('Orsza') delivered Jan and 25 other prisoners from death. Incredibly tortured, Janek suffered enormously and was weak. Jan and Alek who was wounded in this action died on the same day. Awarded after death "The Cross of Valorous", a Polish military decoration.
