Mary Ann was the second of ten children born to Harmon and Lucy Ann (Brown) Boatright. She married Hampton Abney in 1882 and they had three children: Walter Millage , Jesse Conrad and Guinevere 'Vera'.

Funeral Services Will be Held Saturday
at Old Brushy in Saline County

Death at 8:20 a.m. Thursday, claimed Mrs. Mary Ann Abney, wife of Hamp Abney was born in Brushy township, Saline county on October 26, 1865 and at the time of death she was 56 years-6 months and 8 days of age.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Boatright and was united in marriage with Mr. Abney on September 14, 1882, in Saline county.
Three children with the husband survive, The children are Millage Abney and J. P Abney of Marion and Mrs. E.B. Brush(Bush) of West Frankfort. The brothers and sisters who survive are Albert, Davis, Wilie and Charles Boatright of Saline county, Mrs. Patsy Harris of Du Quion, Mrs. Della Fox of West Frankfort and Mrs. Grace Taylor of Cairo. Mrs. Laura Abney and Walter Boatright preceded their sister in death.
Mrs. Abney was a member of the Baptist church at Old Brushy and was a good conscientious Christina mother and wise. She has aged in Illinois all her life.
Funeral services Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Old Brushy with interment in Saline county.
