Beulah was the daughter of Parks Payton Sr. and Lucinda 'Lula' (Cloninger) Bumgarner. She married (1) Macon Ridenhour in 1927 and they had two daughters: Elizabeth and Hazel Louise. She married (2) Carl Leroy Abernathy.

MOUNT HOLLY - Mrs. Beulah Bumgarner Abernathy 86, homemaker, died July 12, 1995, at Charlotte Health Care Center in Charlotte. Funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at Catawba Heights Baptist Church. Visitation is 7 to 9 tonight at Carothers Funeral Home.

Survivors are her daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Noble of Swansboro, Mrs. Hazel Lutz; brother, Dorris Bumgarner of Burlington; sister, Mrs. Sarah Painter of Gaffney, S.C.; stepsons, Ray Abernathy, Glenn Abernathy, Jack Abernathy; stepdaughter, Mrs. Virginia Clawson of Belmont.

Memorials may be made to Catawba Heights Baptist Church, 311 Belmont Ave., Belmont, NC 28012; or to Mount Holly Life Saving Crew, 307 N. Main St., Mount Holly, NC 28120.
