Capt George Cannon

Birth: May 15, 1766, Isle of Man
Death: Jul., 1811, At Sea

There is conflicting information about the disposition and death of Captain George Cannon. In The Cannon Family Historical Treasury it states that George was a victim of a mutiny aboard his ship, dying in the process on July 8, 1811.

Yet, George Cannon’s probate record indicates he died “on or about 13th July”. According to the burial register for the Parish of German in 1811, he was buried at St. Peter’s Church in Peel.

There is a log book from the ship "Iris" that belonged to George Cannon. Written on the first page is a subscript (written later underneath George Cannon's signature), it says "killed at sea on board his own vessel in mutiny 1810.

Research has been conducted and can be found on a website called cannondrum on blogspot.
