Larkin (Lark) Adams was born in the Cairo community "across the river" in Limestone County, Alabama to H. Sylvester (called Vester) Adams and Ella Siniard Adams. His parents were country people and his father farmed. Lark married Trudie Melissa Brackeen on December 24, 1924. They had three daughters, Erma Lee Adams Blakely, Ruth Evelyn Adams Blakely, and Reba Joyce Adams Raley. Lark and Trudie were married over 50 years until she passed away in 1975. He grew up a member of the Cairo Methodist Church. After he and Trudie married, they were faithful members of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, which was her home congregation. Lark worked hard as a farmer from an early age and received little formal education. While they may have had their private disputes, none of their children or grandchildren remember either of them raising their voice to the other. He did not remarry following Trudie's death. Lark was well-thought of by his neighbors and a gentleman to all. His mind remained sharp and his health relatively good until his death which occurred at Parkway Hospital in Decatur, Alabama. He is still very much missed by his children, grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

*On his and Trudie's marriage certificate, his name is listed as Larkin McCoy Adams; however, he strongly denied that the "McCoy" was any part of his name.

Lark was part of a large family. His brothers and sisters who survived to maturity were Henry Adams (26860575), Mary Etta Campbell (30724313), Johnnie D. Adams, Sr. (30723953), Ida Adams Kelley (48526357), W. James (Jack) Adams (48526590), Joe D. Adams (30724195), Nora (Nonie) A. Brewer (30724201), and Greta Adams Malone (61418328). All are buried in the Sandlin Cemetery of Limestone County, Alabama, except Greta Adams Malone who is buried with her husband in the Kedron Cemetery of Giles County, Tennessee.
