Services Friday for Miss Atkinson
BESSEMER, Aug. 11 - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday for Miss Vikki Jo Atkinson, 17, who died in a Birmingham hospital Wednesday evening. The Rev. Dewey E. Mayfield will officiate at Brown-Service Bessemer Chapel. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
Miss Atkinson would have been a senior at Bessemer High School this fall. She was a cheerleader, a member of Alpha Tri-Hi-Y, and a member of Sports Club, and participated in the school's beauty pageant the last two years. She was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church.
Miss Atkinson was the daughter of Clettus Atkinson, Birmingham Post-Herald sports writer, and Mrs. Atkinson. Also surviving are a sister, Miss Rita Atkinson, a student at University of Alabama; a brother, Gene Allen Atkinson, home on leave from the U. S. Marines, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Conway of Atlanta, Ga., and George Atkinson of Grand Rapids, Mich.
