Charles R. Allen, 83, of Norman, died June 13, 2011, after an extended illness.
He was born November 16, 1927, in Anderson and graduated from Markleville High School. He retired from Anaconda and also worked for the city of Anderson as the head of the water department. He relocated in 1983 to Norman, where he owned and operated two Fantastic Sam's franchises for several years with his wife. When he retired, Charles and his wife, Helen, traveled and went on to enjoy many great adventures. They met many wonderful friends through business and meeting their wonderful neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steve.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Helen (Elmore) Allen; son, Mark Allen; daughter, Diane (Harry) Parkison; seven grandchildren, Conrad, Adam (Nita) and Samantha Mason, Lori and Scott Allen, Amber Hinson and Toby Parkison; two great-grandchildren, Lynze Mason and Jack Pryor, all of Norman; one brother and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Paul and Lena (Morgan) Allen; son, Steve; and brother, Daniel.
There will be no services. Cremation will take place.
His brother-in-law, Melvin Biddle, is buried just to the south of his marker.
