Mrs. Charlotte Bullard, widow of the late Fred Bullard, died at her home on May Street Sunday morning, following an illness of serveral days. Mrs. Bullard had been in poor health for the past year, and had greatly improved from her illness until a few days ago she was taken critically ill. She was 77 years old February 16.

Mrs. Bullard was a native of Germany. Her maiden name was Charlotte Hornschuch, and was the last of her family living. She married Mr. Bullard in Germany, about fifty years ago, leaving for America ten years later, residing in this country for the past 40 years, and in Oregon City 25 years.

Mrs. Bullard is survived by the following children: Mrs. Augusta Schoenborn and Mrs. Emma Baker, of Oregon City; Frank Bullard of Oregon City; Robert Bullard, of Clarkes; Chris Bullard, of Oregon City. She is also survived by 19 grand children and 22 great grandchildren.

Charlotte's Biography

Frederike (Charlotte) (Hornschuch/Hornshuh) married Fredrick (Fred) Bullert/Ballard/Bullard. According to the Emma Ives Ship Passenger List, Fred, Charlotte, and their two Daughters Augusta, and Emily immigrated to the United States from Germany, Prussia in 1863. They departed from Hamburg, Germany and arrived in New York on July 31, 1863 at the Castle Garden. They lived in Butler Twp. and Roaring Creek Twp., Pennsylvania and Oregon City, Oregon. In 1881, the Bullard Family came from Allentown, PA via a Steamboat to Oregon, probably from New York around South America and ending up in Oregon. They had four Daughters and four Sons. Charlotte passed away at age 78.
