Funeral services for Lorraine Liza Haggard, age 90, Atoka, were held Friday, August 21 at 2 pm at Atoka Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Crowson and the Rev. Eddy Cooke officiating. Burial was in Green Meadows Cemetery. Haggard died at the Heart Hospital in Plano, Texas on Tuesday, August 18, 2009. A housewife, she was born at Stonewall on June 5, 1919 and was the daughter of Wiliam Tolbert Chism and Bertha Louisa Allmon Chism. She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church in Durant. She married Billy Frank Haggard at Davis on October 12, 1940. He preceeded her in death on April 9,1987. Also preceding her in death were her parents, William and Bertha Chism; a son, Joe Michael Haggard; a granddaughter, Krissi Jo Haggard; her sister, Edna Fitzgerald; 2 brothers, Tolbert Chism and J.D. Chism.
Survivors include a son, Ransy C. Haggard of Atoka; 3 grandchildren: Dusty Vanessa King and husband Jeff of Howe, TX. Billy Joe Haggard and wife Monica, and Holly Rhiannon Haggard, all of Atoka. 3 great-grandchildren: Landrey Parker King and Lawsyn Paige King of Howe, TX. Lanie Jo Haggard of Atoka. 2 sisters: Cora Wynell Chism, Sarah McNeil and husband Leon, all of Atoka. A brother, Gene Chism and wife Freda of Florida; also several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
