Ethelyn Amyx

GARLAND - After many years of battling cancer, Ethelyn Amyx passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, in her Garland home of 38 years at the age of 65. Once again she will join her husband of 41 years, Thomas Amyx, who preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1994.

Ethelyn was known as a caring and giving person devoted to God, family and friends. Even in her time of greatest need, she was more concerned about the family and friends whom she loved. Most of all, Ethelyn enjoyed going and doing. If her grandchildren had a ballgame or event, being there was a priority to her. If there was an opportunity for a trip, she was ready to go. Vacations in Fun Valley, Colo., were a summer ritual with Ethelyn and her husband Tom for 22 years.
...
Ethelyn worked for the Richardson Independent School District in food service for 22 years, 15 years as the manager at Springridge Elementary. She retired from the Minirth Meier Clinic in 1997 after 11 years when the cancer reoccurred.

Born in Sanger, Texas, on Aug. 18, 1936, Ethelyn was raised by her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. A.Q. Rector, after her mother died shortly after Ethelyn's birth.
...
Achalies Quisenberry Rector and Ethelyn Ready Rector had three children of their own, Bill Rector of Kerrville, Texas, Betty Malaise of Lake Kiowa, Texas, and Maurice Hill, who preceded Ethelyn in death.
...
Ethelyn was also preceded in death by her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. James R. Ready of Sanger, Texas, and two brothers, Bobby Jo Ready and Richard Ready, both of Sanger, Texas.
...
Ethelyn is survived by her son, Kyle Amyx and his wife Cindy of Coppell, Texas, and her daughter, Teal Ann Bodensteiner and her husband Doug of Rowlett, Texas.
...
Ethelyn was loved dearly by her grandchildren, Brett Thomas Amyx, 17, and twins Kelsey Leigh and Lauren Elizabeth Amyx, 12.
...
Also surviving Ethelyn are her brother, James Ready of Sanger, Texas, and sisters, Mary Hachtel of Sanger, Texas, and Peggy Crunk of Ivanhoe, Texas.
