Daughter of Dr. James Elliott and Malinda Elizabeth Payne Blaydes, Mary was first married to William Rufus Fleming in 1897, a Memphis merchant. They had two daughters, Kathleen Elizabeth in 1898 and Allie Blaydes Fleming in 1899. Unfortunately, William R. Fleming was killed at Brunswick, Tennessee as a result of an automobile accident in November, 1909. On October 20, 1920 she remarried Dr. Piatt Halstead Anderson and the couple remained in Memphis for the duration of their lives. Mary Allie died of a cerebral hemmorhage.
