He was the founder and co-owner of Grogg Standard Service in Auburn and operated the business for 37 years, retiring in 1984. He served in Guam with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a pharmacist’s mate in the fleet hospital. He participated in the Library of Congress Veterans History Project in Washington, D.C.

He attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and was a member of DeKalb Masonic Lodge 213 and American Legion Post 97 of Auburn. He coached Little League baseball in Auburn for nine years and after he finished coaching, he served on the Auburn youth baseball board. He was inducted into the Northeast Indiana Little League Baseball Hall of Fame of Coaches for the numerous years when he had champion teams. He also sponsored little league basketball in Auburn. He loved Indiana University basketball and after he retired, he enjoyed playing golf.

He was born June 15, 1924, in Auburn to Alva F. and Ada (Smurr) Grogg. They preceded him in death. He married Ruth L. Mitchner on Jan. 18, 1947. She survives in Auburn. Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Mary Ann Grogg of Columbus, Ind., and Ted and Mary Grogg of Evansville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tara and Augie Agosti of Sylvania, Ohio, and Tami and Chad Bullock of Bristol; seven grandchildren, Heidi Grogg, Heather and Chris Means, Mitch Grogg, Rachel Grogg, Ali Bullock, Corbin Bullock and Megan Bullock; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruth and Bob George of Indianapolis and Bess Mochamer of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edward Grogg and Edgar Grogg.
