Juan S. Abrego, age 86, passed away Monday, August 13, 2007. He served in the US Army during WWII, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Star and DAME Campaign Metal with 3 Bronze Stars.

Juan was also a Master Journeyman Plumber and a member of Local Union #823.

Survivors include his loving wife, Maria E. Abrego of Corpus Christi, Texas; children, Mary Frances Abrego, Magali Gongora, Johnny Abrego all of Corpus Christi, Texas and Frank (Carmen) Abrego of Irving, Texas; brother, Rosendo (Sylvia) Abrego. In addition he is survived by his jewels and treasures: grandchildren, Gloria (John) Saenz, Laura (Gabriel) Gongora-Silva, Juan Antonio Gongora, Jennifer Abrego Potter and Krista Ramirez; great grandchildren, Stacy Ann Gongora, Ashley Nichole Gongora, Renee Ann Davila, Ciara Nicole Carrasco, Destiny Celeste Carrasco, Mariah Reina Silva, Shelby Lee Saenz, Chantel Potter, Mikayla Potter, Roland Potter and his joy Gabriel Silva Jr., Lori Ann and Alex Del Bosque. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visition was held on Aug. 16 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. A funeral mass was celebrated on Aug. 17 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment followed at at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
