Etoile was the daughter of Seth E. Allen and Rosamond I. Bishop. She apparently never married. Sometime between April and December of 1940, Etoile and her widowed mother moved to Fresno. They probably wanted to live closer to her sister and brother-in-law. Etoile's mother died in 1942 in Fresno and was buried next to her father at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.
