My brother was born during the depression and my mom and dad didn't have enough money to buy him a blanket. He started out having a rough life; he was always in the wrong place at the wrong time and had his share of stiches, etc. He enlisted in the Marine Corps when he was 18 and I was in the first grade. He would bring me presents and used to send me postcards from all over the world. That's what he wanted to be - a "globe trotter". In the corps, he was selected for NATO forces, and returned after 3 yrs. He worked in the construction business as a blaster, dynamiting and clearing rock. In 1954 he married Vivian Maccarone - they were blessed with 3 girls, Laura, Judith and Ellen. At 33 he became a police officer for Nassau Cty. NY. He was hand picked to belong to Nassau Blue. At the age of 42, he retired after getting injured on the job. He moved his family to Spring Hill FL. and remained there until his death. He suffered greatly for 15 yrs. due to the terrible disease LUPUS. Whenever I would ask him how he felt, he would reply,"good". After he died I found out that he was almost in chronic pain; but,
nevertheless, he always had a smile on his face when I was there and sat with my husband and I, talked about everything and laughed about everything. He had a great sense of humor. Thanks to Vivian, he had a wonderful nurse. Dominic left behind 3 children,Laura, Judith & Ellen; 4 grandchildren, Dani, Eric, Austin and Christopher. I was there when he passed away, told him I loved him and he left. Both my brothers were my heros and I miss Dominic terribly. Please keep him in your prayers and remember the Lupus Foundation. He was cremated and his ashes were distributed to family and scattered.

Special thanks to Ercole77 from Italy for sponsering Dominic's memorial.
