Rosa is my grandmother. I never knew her, but my mom, who was 5 years old when Rosa died, used to tell me stories about her. In my recent research I have uncovered that my grandmother buried 3 children in Italy before she came to the USA. Rosa died from a massive infection from a sore in her nose. The doctor used to come every day, but in 1909 there were no antibiotics to save her. My grandfather was crushed by her death; she left 5 children, the youngest 1 1/2 years old. My mom always told me that Rosa was buried in a potter's field, but through my research I found that she is buried in Calvary cemetery in NY in the charity section. At last I have found her after all these years. Rest in peace Grandma.
