2ND LT. F.L. ALBRIGHT DIES IN GERMANY, PARENTS ARE ADVISED
Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Albright of 398 W. Tompkins have been advised by military authorities that their son, 2nd Lt. Friend L. (Pete) Albright, 26, died in Germany Saturday, Aug. 8, at 2:30 p.m. Cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage.
Lt. Albright was born in Galesburg April 9, 1927, attended schools here and was graduated from the Wataga High School, which he attended the last two years of his school career. Following his graduation, he served 18 months in the Navy. He was out of service some 18 months, during which time he took flying instructions at the Currey Flying Service. He then entered Army service, with which he has been connected since returning to military duty. Since going to Germany last June 1, he has been a member of the Civil Investigation Corps. His marriage to Virginia Lane of Jacksonville took place last March.
Surviving are his wife; his parents; two sisters, Mrs. Keeon Johnson of Galesburg and Mrs. Dale Trout of Oneida, and a brother, Lee Albright Jr. of San Pablo, Calif.
The telegram from military authorities stated that a letter confirming the death will follow and it is expected that additional details concerning the death will be given in this letter. It is also expected that the body will be returned to Galesburg for burial.

Funeral services for 2nd Lt. Friend L. Albright, 398 W. Tompkins St., will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Hinchliff and Wilson Funeral Chapel, where friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening. Lt. Albright died Aug. 8 in Germany of a cerebral hemorrhage.
He was born April 9, 1927, and attended Galesburg schools, graduating from Wataga High School. He spent 18 months in the Navy, and following his discharge took flying instruction at the Currey Flying Service here. Entering the Army, he received his commission and went to Germany in June of this year, where he was attached to the Civil Investigation Corps.
He married Virginia Lane of Jacksonville March 15 of this year.
He is survived by his wife; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Albright, Galesburg; two sisters, Mrs. Velma Johnson, Galesburg, and Mrs. Fae Trout, Oneida; and a brother, Lee Albright Jr. He was preceded in death by a brother.
Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by members of the American Legion.

The Rev. Richard Brinkman of the Oneida Methodist Church officiated. Mrs. Dale B. Johnson was the organist. Mrs. Mauritz Hodges and Reid Carson sang.
Pallbearers were Joe Fite, Bob Brown, Melvin Bocox, Floyd Nelson, Glyn Stewart and Dick Lytle.
Military services were conducted by the Galesburg American Legion Post. William Peterson served as commander; color bearers were Lloyd Glendenning and Lewis Zeldes; the firing squad consisted of [DonWMilliams], Dick Larson, Clarence Dalton, Lloyd Weir, John Plumer and Staff Sgt. Harold McDaniels, and the bugler was Eddie Walker.
Burial was in Linwood Cemetery.
